Why I love Biking

The alarm sounded at 6:00 in the morning. I get up from bed, do my stretching and I am off the road. I am riding to work with my good old bike. I am all pumped up! As I stepped out, I know it is going to be a good day.

I was sweating, feeling the blazing heat of the sun, crossing and pumping the pedal at the street. My heartbeat rises up facing the risk of daily commute.  It’s been a couple of months since I started to ride my bike going to work. The distance is eight kilometers from my home in 21st Street Muroor Road to Alpha Data office in Al Reem Island.

When you are cycling, you see a different perspective of the world around you. I have noticed that the wind breeze is getting hotter each day, and there’s a lot of things that would make me want to stop for a moment and inhale all the good vibes.

I know that cycling is one of my passions; I know that my destination will be limitless with my bike. Back home, I travelled around places I have never been and conquered some difficult trails. My plan is to join an organization that can spread awareness of the positive results of riding a bike. It makes me think that what if 4 out of 10 people in Abu Dhabi commute via bike in the city? It would save up gallons of fuel every year, lessen the intensity of the traffic and the most special part is that we will lessen the harmful emissions that can help us to save the earth from the global warming.

Maybe, it would not be easy. But I know in my small little ways, I am able to contribute to Mother Earth and at the same time, I am doing what I love.

I’m a bit dusty, all sweat up, and I still bear the scars and bruises I got from my previous accident. But this will always be a reminder that it won’t stop me to ride my mountain bike.
